The Główny Szlak Beskidzki runs the length of the Polish Beskids on the red waymark. From Ustroń it climbs over Czantoria Wielka and Barania Góra, crosses to Pilsko and goes over Babia Góra (1,725 m), the highest point of the trail, and Polica. In the Gorce it passes Turbacz, drops to the Dunajec at Krościenko and climbs again over Radziejowa and Jaworzyna Krynicka to Krynica-Zdrój. The long middle is the Beskid Niski — low, forested and thinly settled, past Magura Wątkowska, Chyrowa, Rymanów-Zdrój and Komańcza. It ends in the Bieszczady: over Chryszczata and Smerek, along the open poloniny — Wetlińska and Caryńska — to Halicz, and down to Wołosate. A night at a PTTK hut most days in the west; villages and long days in the Beskid Niski.

  • Overnight rules: camping is not allowed in the national parks the trail crosses (Babia Góra, Gorce, Magura, Bieszczady) outside their designated sites. Outside the parks, the State Forests' "Zanocuj w lesie" areas allow a night in the forest — up to two nights and nine people without notice, fire only where the forester allows it; the areas are on the Bank Danych o Lasach map (mBDL app). Check the current rules of each park and forest district.
  • Huts: PTTK huts (schroniska, bacówki) stand on or near the ridge in the west; book ahead in summer. In the Beskid Niski there are few — plan nights in the villages and carry food for the stretch.
  • Bieszczady: the national park charges an entry fee. Bears and wolves live here — keep food packed away at night.
  • Water: the ridges are dry for long stretches, especially in the Beskid Niski and on the poloniny; refill at huts and villages.
  • Getting there: Ustroń has a railway station. Wołosate is a hamlet at the end of the road — buses run via Ustrzyki Górne, sparse outside summer; check the timetable before the last day.
